Got this from the most amazing urban gardener I know. This is the most successful approach we have found so far. I don't fear contaminated soil so much [I'd rather eat from it than expect all the innocent, non-polluting creatures to be stuck with it] but ordinary city land just isn't that productive compared to the alternative in the link. My internet sub-irrigation (SIP) mentor Bob Hyland and his good friend Frieda Lim (Brooklyn) just produced a great little video for TED on the benefits of growing vegetables in SIP planters. Congratulations on a beautiful informative piece...and here's to all of us that grow our own food in SIPs. Edible type...I'm in heaven!
