OSEA submission to Commission on the Reform of Ontario's Public Service

Opportunity for Saving Taxpayer Dollars

OSEA recently filed a submission with the Commission on the Reform of Ontario's Public Services highlighting two troubling issues. Firstly that some public agencies are hindering progress and adding cost with managerial ineffectiveness; and secondly, that the proposed long-term energy plan that directs the OPA to draft an Integrated Power Systems Plan represents a serious concern as it creates a set-aside for expensive nuclear power while putting a cap on cheaper conservation, combined heat and power (CHP) and renewable energy.

Social Innovation Partnership Forum in Environment & Sustainability

Social Innovation Partnership Challenge in Environment & Sustainability
Ontario Centres of Excellence's (OCE's) Social Innovation (SI) program builds new and enhances existing cross-sector partnerships between industry, not-for-profits (NPOs), social enterprises (SEs), social purpose businesses and academia to develop new productsservices or business models that address social and environmental challenges. As part of the SI program, OCE will convene its second forum on Feb. 29 in Guelph, ON.

This forum focuses on Environment & Sustainability and will feature presentations (successful cross-sector partnerships, an introduction to B corporations etc.), as well as a workshop on Social/Sustainable Return on Investment (SROI). In addition, there will be opportunities for social purpose businesses, NPOs and SEs to network with academic institutions and industry to develop their existing ideas or find partners for projects already underway. Successful applicants to the program are eligible to receive up to $50, 000 per project. Additional information on the upcoming Social Innovation Partnership Challenge can be found in this PDF document.

Please visit our website: http://www.oce-ontario.org/Pages/Social_Innovation2011.aspx or contact the Social Innovation Program Manager, Denise Brennan (denise....@oce-ontario.org) for further information on the event and registration.
