Occupy Friends:

The Michigan Supreme Court is currently packed with pro-corporation,
pro-prosecution Justices who frequently render decisions that favor
corporations curtail the rights of ordinary citizens. We have a
chance to change that in the upcoming election, but time is very
short.

I am asking for your help to nominate Bridget McCormack for the
Michigan Supreme Court at the Democratic nominating convention which
will be held on Saturday, March 10 at Cobo Hall, downtown Detroit.
Bridget is the co-director of the Innocence Project at the U of M Law
School, and she would undoubtedly be a superb addition to a court that
is currently very prosecution oriented.

In order to vote for Bridget on March 10 you have to register online
using the form that is attached to this e-mail BY FEBRUARY 9
(TODAY). Even if you are already a registered Democrat, you must
still file this form online by February 9 in order to be able to vote
on March 10. The cost is $20.00

Once you register, you simply need to go to Cobo Hall in Detroit on
Saturday, March 10, to vote. You should plan to arrive by 11:30 AM to
check in as the voting will occur early in the afternoon. Bridget
will be speaking at about 11:00 AM but it is not essential that you be
there for that.

If you are willing to do this for Bridget, please send a note to Nick
Hambley, a U of M law student assisting with the campaign, as the
campaign is trying to keep a tally of delegates who will be voting for
Bridget on March 10. You can send a note to nick at
nham...@gmail.com. Thanks so much for considering this very
important request.

I write this as an individual with progressive/radical politics. I am
a civil rights attorney and know first hand the damage done by the
conservative majority on the Michigan Supreme Court. I highly
recommend Bridget McCormack and I do apologize for not getting the
word our sooner.
