- Deep Listening Posts [1 Update]

Dear Occupy Burner friends,
Writing to tell you about a new experiment built on the broad
shoulders of the Occupy Movement.
The Listening Post is a type of activity designed to facilitate
empathic connection between people who have different points of view.
In the SF East Bay, we've created Listening Posts by simply setting up
signs in ordinary public places. The sign names the spot as a safe
space to be heard and connect from the heart. It says something like
"Listening Post | Empathic Translation Service" (see a photo of one
attached). As volunteers, we staff the post by offering our open ears
and our hearts. We listen for the feelings and needs that people
share, and reflect back to them what we've heard either silently or
with words, as we've learned from our studies of nonviolent
communication. We don't offer advice or set out to change anything or
anyone.
We are deploying the next Listening Post next Thursday July 5th from
3:30-6:30 pm at the Berkeley Farmer's Market near the corner of Rose
and Shattuck.

Also, if you would like to add an NVC "hearing aid" to your ear, we
will be offering a gift training "Empaths in Service" on Saturday,
July 28th. See http://www.connectionaction.org/events/ for more
information.
Thanks and
Yours,
