Come on out to Burlington's Labor Day picnic! The event is free and family friendly, with free music, BBQ, and activities to celebrate the labor movement's past and future victories.

There's been a really wonderful outpouring of solidarity around Labor Day: the VWC, VT AFL-CIO, NEA, VSEA, AFSCME and VT IWW are all turning out their memberships.

The picnic will run from 2-5pm in Burlington's Battery Park. There will be music by folk singer luminary Rik Palieri, one of Pete Seeger's The Hudson River Sloop Singers, shared many the stage with his late friend Utah Phillips and been nominated for a Grammy. Popular Burlington folk musician Eric George. There will be other musical acts announced in the coming days.

The VWC's People's Kitchen will be serving meals with donated ingredients from local farm, and everyone is encouraged to bring something to share.

With the existence of Burlington's Livable Wage Ordinance, Paid Sick Days and even collective bargaining nationally depending on how effectively we organize, this truly is a decisive moment for workers rights. Show your solidarity! Bring your friends, family and union!

If you'd like to help with flyering, has a musician in their life who'd like to play, wants to make a food donation or wants to help with outreach please be in touch.

Soli,
Jonathan
