Berkshire Human Rights Speaker Series
proudly presents:
Reverend Sheila Sholes-Ross

BLACK LIVES MATTER
Sunday, January 31st at 2pm -
The Big Talk: Perception, Reality, Consequences

Join us for the difficult and painful talk about race relations we so often avoid. Reverend Sholes-Ross will lead an engaging discussion about the many perceptions white folks have about people of color regarding racism—including one where people feel comfortable enough to say, "hey, sometimes I feel that black people are being racist towards me !" Such honest conversation can reveal the realities of racism, and the consequences when ongoing, transparent discussions are avoided. Reverend Sholes-Ross believes that ultimately, the challenging BIG TALK will encourage an atmosphere for healing and promote strategies to prevent future problems relating to race. "Goodness knows," she says, "we can all use a bucket-load of healing about now !"

Sheila Sholes-Ross, is the first African-American woman to lead the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield. A profound and passionate new member of our Berkshire community, advocating for all women serving in the ministry, while actively addressing issues of social justice.
