Pat,
On April 4, 1967, exactly one year before he was assassinated, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. told a packed house at Riverside Church,
"A true revolution of values will lay hand on the world order and say of war, “This way of settling differences is not just.” ... A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death." -- Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break the Silence
It's with this revolution of values in mind that we look towards the Peace & Planet Mobilization as a time to gather in solidarity with one another, to engage deeply with the challenges and realities we face, and to build and strengthen the ties between our movements for nuclear abolition, racial, environmental, and economic justice, and peace.
We also hope you'll
join our Thunderclap in order to build awareness about the Mobilization and increase the number of petition signatures that we'll be handing in to Ambassador Taous Feroukhi and UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Angela Kane during the
Festival at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza on Sunday, April 26, calling for nuclear abolition!
We look forward to seeing you in New York City, or the footage from your Global Event in your local community. And,
we're still looking for volunteers throughout the weekend and marshals during the March! Please sign up here!
In solidarity and peace,
