Safespace group

Could whomever is in charge of this group please ping me if you're on
list, or could someone send contact information if not? I'm glad that
this group exists and want to help out, especially after some of the
responses I got for calling out the disruptive people tonight. I have
many more thoughts on that, and would rather hash them out in a group
than on list.

It's newly formed, and we haven't had a meeting yet, but if you would like to step up and help organize, I think that would be appreciated. Jamie is the person who started the group.

I don't use my real name on Facebook because I don't feel safe giving corporations genuine information to productize me when I have a say in doing so. I also participate in a number of alternative lifestyles and don't want my family finding out, or don't want to risk a Facebook privacy change exposing locked posts to my vanilla friends/coworkers. :) I say this because I think it has direct bearing on a safer spaces group, and I'm currently pondering an announcement/special topic to talk about those types of issues as they relate to OA's Facebook use.

Start a working group! Or maybe bring it as a topic at the Safe
Spaces working group. I think it is something we should talk about.

Our information is taken from us, with very little consent, and then
corporations profit off of it. That's just not right....

That's the plan. I wasn't sure if it'd be better as a separate working
group (I'd rather provide a solution/alternative rather than just
ranting about the problem, which will involve evaluating companies/apps)
or bring it up in Safer Spaces (there are definitely safety issues with
Facebook.)
