Comment recieved from Paul O'Hanlan on Facebook:
OK so I'm too excited to sleep so I'll bore you with my voting reasoning. In the end I mostly care about income disparity. All that other inequality is important, but income disparity - and more fundamentally the differences between those societies that allow / don't allow great income disparities . . . that is my biggest voting motivator.
Obama has been a great personal disappointment to me. I worry about turn-out because I think others are also disappointed. But the plain fact is that a vote which helps the Republicans win is a vote for more income disparity in this country. We have a winner-take-all system. There are elements of it that sucks - but it's what we have.
As a separate conversation we could consider how Nader squandered an opportunity to create a viable 3rd party . . . but I don't see any credible 3rd party effort. My politics may be like Joan Stein's but a vote for her doesn't get the politics Joan Stein and I want. It is a paradox. Good luck to all tomorrow.
