Email from Erik Russell, We Are One:

There is a growing concern that Occupy Pittsburgh is going to be faced with an eviction notice in the next 48 hours. So that we are able to organize support for the encampment, we are having a conference call today at 2:30 to discuss strategy.

There are only 25 lines available, so please try to double up if you are from an organization.
If you are unable to get on the call, email me and I will make sure you are updated.

We Are One is an affiliation group of several local unions, including the Steelworkers and the Electrical workers.  An organization outside the formal Occupation is holding meetings to discuss strategy, because they feel the presence of the Occupy movement benefits organized labor and because they feel they can mobilize a lot of bodies, for public rallies and for lobbying.

There is no "quantifiable" source of the eviction concern, except multiple people testifying to having spoken with BNY Mellon staff and being told "it's coming."  I myself popped in to corporate HQ earlier today to inquire about snow removal procedures, and was told very icily to "put your questions in writing".  It was a queer, tense reception.

I really don't understand who We Are One is, where the quantifiable source of this eviction concern is, and why an organization outside OccupyPGH is holding meetings to discuss our strategy. Can anyone explain?

Paul O'Hanlan is going to this meeting.  I was asked to spread the word.

Clarification re: conference call:"The reason for the limited lines
was because this call is an internal We Are One call to discuss action
plans for the coalition members. It was not intended to be a strategy
call for the larger community of Occupy Pittsburgh. The larger
discussion about eviction response from Occupy should happen, but this
is not the venue for that discussion. Please refrain from using up the
lines unless you are a partner in the We Are One Coalition."

Occupy Pittsburgh participants are welcome to go to USW at 2:15 to
participate in the call, but only We Are One Coalition members are
invited to call in.
There does NOT seem to be an immediate threat, and we should get
people down there to watch and clean camp and participate in the GA
tonight as usual.
