Good Afternoon Commissioners~
I hope this "polleny" spring day finds you all safe and well!
On June 11th of this
year The South Orange Rescue Squad [SORS] will celebrate 50 years of volunteer service to the citizens
of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Orange County, and the state of North
Carolina.
I am writing to inquire about the
potential for any kind of official/ceremonial recognition that the Board of Commissioners might be able and willing to extend in celebration of this
achievement [The BoCC was kind enough to recognize our 40th Anniversary with a proclamation, a copy of which is attached].
I've also attached an information sheet about the Squad [which provides some, but not all information].
Sadly, because of Covid restrictions, we will very likely NOT be having any public events to recognize this milestone. Our current plans are to throw a large public celebration in June of 2022 and we are absolutely planning to invite you all as our honored guests at that event.
We desperately look forward to the day when we can all gather in person and trade real hugs and handshakes for elbow-bumps!
If I can provide additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Thank you all for your continued support!
With Best Regards,
Fred Stipe, Chair
Board of Directors
South Orange Rescue Squad
