Dear commissioners. I've been calling for over a year to get an appointment to have my teeth cleaned at the Orange county dental clinic. I've been going there for a while and they're wonderful there-- the staff and the service. Understandably since covid they have had a hard time hiring dental hygienists. I've been calling regularly to find out if they have any yet. On my last call I found out that you are not allowing them to hire part-time dental hygienist. Could you please reconsider this. I take really good care of my teeth. I live on my social security and I'm sure there are many people like me who go there who benefit from this service. Please let them hire part-time dental hygienists. Sincerely Liz Cool

Thank you for your email. I am really glad to hear that you have been pleased with your services from the Orange County Dental Clinic. It is true that we have had a hard time filling our vacant dental hygienist positions. We posted the full time positions for a while adjusting the hiring salary range as we received some feedback about not being competitive with surrounding counties.  Our last posting made space for both part-time and full time hygienist applicants. I am happy to report that we are currently interviewing hygienists for both part-time and full time positions. If all goes well, we hope to fill these positions and reinstate our hygiene appointments in the next few weeks.
