NO TO STUPID FLORIDA PROTEST LETTER!

Orange County (North Carolina) Board of County Commissioners,

I just noticed one of your "consent agenda" items for the October 3, 2023 BOCC meeting.

The item is "8-k" and is titled: "Approval of Proposed Letter to the National Association of Counties (NACo) Supporting Relocation of the 2024 Annual Conference"

In that proposed letter, you state:

"Under the leadership of Governor Ron DeSantis, the State of Florida has pursued and passed policies that are openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals. The Governor and the State of Florida's actions encourage a culture of fear, harassment, and intimidation by public officials, and travel to the state poses a risk for marginalized communities."

What an embarrassment you are, writing such a preposterous and ridiculous statement.

Seriously -
"encourage a culture of fear, harassment, and intimidation by public officials, and travel to the state poses a risk for marginalized communities??"

Stop pursuing nonsensical, untrue, libelous statements and instead pay attention to the problems in our own Orange County. We didn't elect you to have you ramble on about your woke beliefs - stick to actual business of the County.

If you sign and send that statement, I hope that Florida Governor DeSantis and Florida Attorney General Moody sue each of you personally for your libelous statements. They're copied on this email to alert them to your actions, should you pursue this ridiculous protest letter.

Your paragraph:    "FINANCIAL IMPACT:  There is no financial impact associated with this item."
Should change to: "FINANCIAL IMPACT:  The Board and members will likely have to pay out thousands of dollars when they lose the civil suit filed by Florida for defamation."
