To Whom it May Concern,
Happy New Year! I am a longtime visitor to Little River Park along with my husband and now grown children (who were once tiny trekker participants at LRP). I am also a children's writer who has donated books about animals to the wonderful staff at Little River.
I was there the weekend of the trail run and several of us were discussing the fact that the driveway at the park has long been in need of maintenance. It is not a welcoming driveway, which is a great pity because it is otherwise a lovely park with great staff. In the dry months there are billows of dust behind cars, and in the rain there are puddles that hide the potholes or make them worse. One of us even knows a guy that used to visit daily but said that after he got a new car he found some place else to walk because he was tired of having to wash it from the LRP driveway dust that would accumulate.
Please consider starting a fund to improve the driveway. I have watched the staff working at improvements for years but their time would be better spent if the driveway were paved. I believe you will find many more people willing to visit if they see an inviting drive in!
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Claire Caprioli
Thank you for your email. We received a couple of emails regarding the driveway yesterday. Below is the reply from the Director of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation:
Good afternoon. I am writing to reply to your email about the road at Little River Park.
Good news - we are working on getting the road repaved and funds were allotted for this previously. We are under contract a local engineering firm to develop plans and specifications for repaving the driveway, parking area, and loop trail. We hope to be out for bids in February and start construction in March/April.
Thank you for the email, and please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you for your patronage at Little River Park!
