Dear Orange County Commissioners,

I am against the development of the Greene tract in Chapel Hill. The value of these forested tracts of land, and the measurable environmental services that they provide with regards to clean air and water are measurable and significant, are important recreation areas for many of the town's citizens. We have enough development in town with its traffic and congestion and decrease in the quality of life as well as a continuing decrease in the quality of its public schools. Further development will only exacerbate this problem. Why not try to steer such development into areas that are north of Hillsborough?

COVID and the changes that it has wrought on how people work and how they will be working in the future needs to be addressed and understood better before we continue to develop this area so it looks like every other area in the country. Since I have lived here in the early 1990's I have seen a sterilization of the architecture and culture of this area. It has lost its Mojo. It is just another rest stop on the Atlanta to Richmond I-85 corridor.

Please use traffic studies that accurately reflect the impact of these developments on these towns. Right now the models that they are using are biased towards encouraging more growth. They are not objective and hence, not correct for the uses for which they are employed.

Regards,
