Endorsement of Anna Richards
A Voice for Orange County
Dear Chair Price and County Commissioners,
We hope you all had a good summer! As you know, former Commissioner Dorosin’s seat has four applicants interested in the vacancy. A Voice for Orange County would like to issue our strong support for the appointment of Anna Richards. Ms. Richards has shown just how much she cares about the residents of Orange County by being an advocate for social, environmental, and economic justice ever since she moved here in 2013.
Since forming last year, our grassroots organization has focused on promoting sustainable, thoughtful, and reasonable development that will benefit Orange County and its residents for years to come. Ms. Richards clearly understands that the future of economic growth in Orange County should be centered around sustainability, environmental protection, affordable housing, and local businesses. As she stated in her application, “The recent Buc-ee’s episode demonstrated the need for intentional dialogue and action plans for development within each of the districts that include the needs of the most impacted residents.” We could not agree more. Orange County needs a commissioner with a fresh perspective on county governance as we navigate the changing landscape of economic prosperity.
Ms. Richards’ stance on our climate crisis and the need for Orange County to tap into the green energy sector in areas of low population density as an economic path forward is the right way to look at it from both an environmental standpoint and a fiscally responsible one as well. Targeted economic development in green energy, sustainable agriculture, and growing small and BIPOC businesses is a path to financial prosperity for all Orange County residents. Her decades of experience working for Fortune 100 companies, focusing on finance in supply chain management and human resources, will serve the board and residents of Orange County greatly in this critical position.
Orange County deserves a commissioner like Anna Richards, and we hope you will agree!
