Dear Commissioners
Please reject the proposed UDO amendments that would eliminate public review of subdivision plans by County Commissioners and Planning Board members.

OC residents need elected represented like yourselves to make the final call on development.  This is critical to having any control over what happens here.

There is no compelling reason to give up that control to staff.

Thank you for your consideration

HI Jean
Thank you for your reply.

The only stop gap that Orange County and its citizens have against uncontrolled developer growth is the current structure of Planning Board review coupled with the Commissioner approval process.  Both of these processes allow for crucial citizen input as well as citizen representation through the Commissioners.

This is a smart and wise structural process.  It neither allows nor prevents projects from moving forward, but requires thoughtful consideration.

Why would the commissioners want to change that and give up their own power and control?
Look at what's happening in Chatham and Alamance.  That's not what OC residents want.

Dear Greg Rapp,

On behalf of the Orange County Board of Commissioners (BOCC), thank you for sharing your viewpoints about recent Orange County Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) amendments. The BOCC did not pass those proposed changes at the September 1 business meeting. However, the BOCC does want to support changes that benefit the community and looks forward to further discussions on these topics.

Sincerely,
Jean
