Commissioner Hamilton and Board of County Commissioners,
Some of you may have seen this flyer in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP Branch Buzz, but I wanted to send it to you and tell you a little bit more about the upcoming nonpartisan Voter Education Forum, hosted by the League of Women Voters Orange,
Durham and Chatham Counties and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP.
Danita Mason-Hogan will be joining the forum to speak on the history of the Voting Rights Act and where we stand today, after the recent US Supreme Court decision in
Louisiana v. Callais. Additionally, we will have breakout sessions on voter registration; voter education topics, including voter protection, mail-in ballots, voter ID, how to avoid provisional ballots; and voting the whole ballot. Our goal is to empower
our community participants with information that can help them empower others to exercise their right to vote!
I’ve included a printable flyer to share in your communities as you see fit. Please let Maureen Galvin or I know if you have any questions.
Thinking about all of you at this time,
Janet Wright-Simpson
Co-Chair Political Action Committee
