Dear Mr. Reynolds and Honorable Commissioners:

As the owners of a residence at an address on the proposed "Not to be
serviced" list, we'd like to add our voices to the discussion to the
proposed amendment to the Lumos broadband contract.

Our address has neither a landline connection nor a cable connection, in
spite of being fairly close the Carrboro town center. In addition, trees in
the area make satellite connections erratic, particularly when the trees are
in leaf from April to November. [We have tried both HughesNet and Star Link
services.] We have repeatedly enquired with every possible provider if
there was a way to install some kind of connection, even DSL would be an
improvement [at one point, Bell South/AT&T serviced our road, but they
indicated they are no longer doing so].

This is exactly the kind of failure of public/utility services our county
board was seeking to remedy with the original contract.

To make matters even more surreal, Lumos has already installed the fiber's
underground conduit throughout our region, including along the right-way a
few feet from our house. Leaving that work unfinished, work which the
county has already subsidized, seems a tremendous waste of both country
government resources.

We

Yours,

Ken Bradley and Linda Schile-Bradley
