Dear Bedford Family, Chair Hamilton, Members of the Board of County Commissioners, and Orange County Staff,
On behalf of the Friends of the Orange County Public Library, I want to extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Commissioner Jamezetta Bedford.
Commissioner Bedford dedicated so much of her life to serving Orange County. Through her years on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education and later on the Board of County Commissioners, she helped shape this community in ways that will be felt for years to come. Her commitment to public service, thoughtful leadership, and care for the people of Orange County were evident in everything she did.
While many residents knew her through her public roles, what stands out most is the consistency of her service. For decades, she showed up, did the work, and remained focused on making Orange County a better place for its residents. That kind of dedication leaves a lasting mark on a community.
We know her loss will be deeply felt by her family, friends, colleagues, and the many people whose lives she touched through her work. Please know that our thoughts are with all of you during this difficult time.
With sympathy and gratitude for her service,
William McLean
President
Friends of the Orange County Public Library
