Good morning,

Due to the boiler currently being down at Southern, temperatures across the building are low. We are working to remedy the situation and will provide an update as soon as we have more information.

Thanks,

Good afternoon,

Work continues on the boiler. Digging has begun to identify the location of a leak in the line. We will have another update before 5:00 PM.

Thanks,

Good afternoon (again!),

Due to the ongoing work on the boiler, temperatures in the building will not be able to be in policy with the colder weather outside. Because of this, Southern Human Services will be closed tomorrow (12/4). The repair is expected to be completed by tomorrow afternoon, and the hope is to be able to open the building on Friday, 12/5. We will provide another update once the repair is done. Please discuss working assignments or locations with your supervisor or manager for tomorrow.

Good afternoon. I hope everyone had a great day,

Update for the facility.

  • The fittings that arrived were the wrong type.
  • Contractor has purchased temporary lines that will be installed above ground.
  • Installation is expected to be completed by 5:30 pm today.
  • Once the lines are installed, we will get the boiler back in operation and check building temperatures.
  • I will confirm the all clear by this email as soon as the temperatures rise in the facility.
  • AMS maintenance will arrive early tomorrow morning to check and confirm temperatures. We will inform you of any areas where temperatures are lower than the County policy.
  • We will be installing metal barriers for safety purposes at the rear of the facility. ( same setup as the installation)
  • The employee entrance on the rear of the facility will be closed due to the exposed lines.
  • Please use the front door or left side entrances until the barricades are removed.
  • We will leave room to exit the rear hallway door near the break room for emergency fire exit only.

I will be in touch soon with confirmation and additional information.

Good evening. The temporary lines are hooked up and holding. The facility is slowly heating up. The expectation is that the temperatures will be within policy by 8:00 am. Taylor Hankins will check temperatures in the morning, and we will have a report for any areas out of policy by 6:15 am.

Fingers crossed that the lines hold overnight and until the permanent lines are replaced. We really appreciate everyone's patience and understanding while we work to get the facility back in operation.

Great big thank you to Taylor Hankins for staying late and working diligently to get things ready for tomorrow.

Good morning. Most of the facility is within County policy. There are a few offices that are getting there. We will need to open the office doors in the areas so they can warm up. We will continue to monitor the facility. If there is an area of concern throughout the day please let us know. We will not be able to achieve anything higher than 70 degrees at any area. Have a great Friday!

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a great weekend. The Facility is at normal temperatures.
The contractor will start the excavation of the boiler lines today and install the new piping tomorrow. The excavation will remain open throughout the week and possibly a few days next week. This will allow us to confirm that the pipes are not leaking. Once confirmed we will cover the area and pour the sidewalk. Please inform everyone to not cross the barriers until all work is complete. Have a great day!
