A few concerns on tonight's agenda.

Hi commissioners,

 

I want to express my concern with item 5a on tonight’s agenda.

 

• The context, intent and scope of item 5a is difficult  to understand and does not seem well thought out..
• I have concerns about making what seem to be major changes to the UDO at this point in the process. The claim to be in “alignment with the Strategic Plan” is specious since the Strategic/Comprehensive Plan is currently under review.
• The Planning Director having sole authority to review and approve subdivision concept plans, plats and handle appeals (bypassing the citizen advisory board and commissioners) lacks scrutiny and review.
• I suspect this proposal also bypasses Neighborhood Information Meetings?

 

Overall, I feel as if this is an attempt to push through UDO changes without analysis and any sort of introspection/rational other than speeding approvals. I understand the desire to streamline development, however this change seems to me to need work.

Dear Tony Blake,

 

On behalf of the Orange County Board of Commissioners (BOCC), thank you for sharing your viewpoints about  recent Orange County Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) amendments. The BOCC did not pass those proposed changes at the September 1 business meeting. However, the BOCC does want to support changes that benefit the community and looks forward to further discussions on these topics.
