Good morning,

I know that the Orange County Board of County commissioners has to make tough decisions about funding competing priorities. I’m writing to both express my appreciation for the way the commissioners have handled those decisions in the past and to urge you to continue two things that make such a difference for equity in our community: public schools and public health. You know that Orange County doesn’t make decisions about funding in a vacuum; the attacks on education, safety net programs and the further tipping the scales in favor of the wealthy on the state and federal levels will make local resources for critical services even more essential in the next two years.

Public health programs and services in OC have demonstrated impact and undergird the vibrancy of our communities. Our public schools are the reason people move here. Local funding is only the way that we get to focus on leveling the playing field in this county of abundance.

Thank you again for your service to the county.
