Hi Leigh,

On behalf of the BOCC, thank you for sharing your letter. (I did not know about DMARC and learned from your email.) I hope OWASA can fix this and adjust your bill. Personally I agree that it is not logical to punish folks when leaks happen to occur more than some x time period. The goal is to alert so customers can get them fixed quickly. Once I got the alerts, checked toilets and faucets for leaks and then found the outside hose was left on by one of my household. Luckily it was only for two days and so the cost was minimal.  So using this technology is super for residents; and, sometimes tech fails and adjustments are needed.

Sincerely,

Jamezetta (Chair)

Subject: Complaint regarding missing OWASA alert emails

CAUTION: External email. Do not click links or open attachments unless verified. Report suspicious emails with the Phish Alert Button located on your Outlook menu bar on the Home tab.

Hello,

Please see the attached letter regarding missing OWASA alert emails
that resulted in over $1,400 in unnecessary water use charges.
Under the circumstances, I respectfully request that OWASA give us
credit for these charges, as we were not actually informed about a leak.

While I have also sent this letter to the OWASA Board, I think it is
important that this issue be addressed and that OWASA customers
should be informed about leaks, so wanted to raise awareness
about this problem.

Thank you very much,
Leigh Thorne
