Invitation to community event - Nicotine Impact on our Community - Thursday Sept 10, 2-4 PM, Chapel Hill Public Library

Commissioners Carter, Dasi, Fowler, Greene, Hamilton, McKee, and Portie-Ascott, 

My thanks to you for endorsing HB 430 Solly's Law, to raise NC's sales age of nicotine to 21 and require a permit to sell nicotine, to end underage sales and protect youth from a lifetime of addiction.  This bill did not move during this legislative session, so we are continuing to advocate during the upcoming long session.  

I am extending an invitation to you to attend a community event on September 10th held at the Chapel Hill Public Library that will share information about the community disparities that occur due to industry targeting, retail and legislative practices, and a discussion of ways to counter the harmful effects.

We are very excited that Representative Alan Buansi, who is a bill sponsor for Solly's Law, and Ada Watson, the Tobacco 21 Youth Council member who presented a request for endorsement earlier this summer to the Board, will be speaking as part of this event, alongside national experts.
