Who?: All County Staff

What?: Windows 10 will be upgraded to Windows 11 through a rolling upgrade.

When?: Upgrades will start on October 6th. Departments will be notified when their upgrades start one week before.

Why?: Windows 10 is entering End of Life, which means that Orange County must upgrade to Windows 11 in order to continue to receive security updates and features.

Training: There are several options for training available. Windows 11 is similar to Windows 10, but some buttons have moved and it will look a bit different at first:

For quick reference on the most common changes, you can view our Welcome to Windows 11 document here: docx icon Welcome to Windows 11.docx

  1. .
  2. For a slightly deeper dive into the changes in Windows 11, you can review the Microsoft page of changes and features here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/meetwindows11
  3. For a deep dive into the new features and how to access and configure them, you can view this video on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m82-FjOUfdQ . This video is quite long (1 hr 30 min), so we would recommend using the chapter selection option to find the area you are most interested in to watch. Chapter selection can be found by clicking the “More” button under the video, or by hovering over the timeline slider in the video.

If you require additional specific training, please reach out to the Help Desk and IT will be happy to assist.

If you have any questions about this upgrade, please contact David Mathias at 919-245-2272.
