Good Morning,

Governor Cooper and members of the Coronavirus Task Force will hold a briefing today (Tuesday January 4, 2022) at 2:00pm to share updates on COVID-19.   You may watch on PBS North Carolina (Formerly UNC-TV) or via live stream here:  https://www.ncdps.gov/news-conference

There are 12,989 newly reported cases with a percent positive rate of 27.4%.  There are 2,722 people hospitalized with COVID-19. (For a point of reference, here are the numbers from 12/17/21:  4,165 newly reported cases with a percent positive rate of 7.5%.  1,604 people hospitalized).   Sadly we have 19,457 confirmed deaths as a result of the Pandemic.  Currently 74% of the adult population has been vaccinated with at least one dose and 69% of the adult population has been fully vaccinated.  More information is available on the NCDHHS Dashboard available here: https://covid19.ncdhhs.gov/dashboard
