Obviously, the bats were on fire again! Cole was 0 for 3 (but pitched
great!; Alex was 0 for 1 with two walks; Tim was 1 for 4; Jordan and
Dillon were 1 for 3; Steven was 1 for 2 with a walk; Makoto was 1 for
2 with two walks (his 1 single was left-handed); Anthony was 2 for 4
with a double; Matt was 2 for 3 with a double and triple; Drew was 3
for 4 with a double (he struck out after fouling off two left-handed);
Sam was 3 for 4 with a triple, double and single (the single was left-
handed); and Buddy went 4 for 4 with a left-handed single.
My dad asked the umpire what he should do to keep the score down, and
the umpire suggested sending the boys up to bat left handed. Well, 3
out of the 4 boys ended up getting base hits left handed. That didn't
go as planned...but the kids enjoyed it.
There is an 18 year old Lithuania girl (I'm told she's very pretty)
that is keeping stats for ALL the teams for every game. She stays up
until 1 a.m. every morning inputting the data. I hear she may be
posting it on a website. If so, I will get that to you as soon as
possible.
The boys have been swimming in the pool and lake (the boys are a
little sketchy on the lake...stuff floating...dark water). They are
playing cards, basketball, and using crab apples (I guess there are a
lot of crab apple trees around) as baseballs.
Our team bought enough hamburgers and hot dogs to feed the two
Lithuania teams for dinner tonight. They had a huge BBQ. They were
told that this was the first time any team has done that. The
Lithuania teams were so grateful...a lot of thank you's and smiles.
There were 22 pounds of hamburger meat, and they ran out! The entire
BBQ cost $170, but it saved the Lithuania team from having to buy
their dinner at the restaurant. I guess we were able to save them so
much money that they are now able to stay the night at another cabin.
I asked how the one shower was going? There was a lot of
laughter...they boys are learning how to take quick showers. I'm told
that all the boys are getting along great, and there's a lot of
laughing...
