Iupgraded to RetroArch 1.4.1. It kept my custom path for my System/BIOS folder for RetroArch when launched by itself. When I launch through Hyperspin, the path has been reset to /data/data/com.retroarch/system. I want to change this to /storage/emulated/0/RetroArch/system (sdcard/RetroArch/system). I can't because there is no way to browse that folder through the interface. When I click to change it, the only path options available are:

None of those will allow me to browse to /storage/emulated/0. If I click into storage > emulated, 0 never displays because the Android OS doesn't have access to /storage/emulated. I also can't directly edit the cfg because it's in /data/data which I also don't have access to. How can this be changed? Or, how does RetroArch generate the list of folders as default when I click to change a path?

I'm having the exact same issue when trying to play a CD base game. The fix for this was to start a game in Hyperspin that doesn't require a bios and go into RetroArch bios setting (which defaults to /data/data/com.retroarch) but any attempt to change this to my preferred location is not allowed because hitting the "/" results in an empty screen with and nothing else. Im currently trying to set this up on the Nvidia Sheld TV 2017 500G.

Yes you can go to "/" but you can't start navigating further up the tree, you're stuck there. I can provide a screenshot, you definitely can't navigate. I can see why, we don't even have read writes to "/".

Yes, same issue. I resolved this by moving my RetroArch system folder and config folder to my external HD (where I store all my Hyperspin stuff). I just created a RetroArch folder there and added folders for system and config. Then I pointed my "standalone" RetroArch system and config folders there as well as my "Hyperspin" RetroArch folders there. Now everything works and should always work because I always have access to my external drive by navigating via /storage.

Ok I tried to copy the system and config folder on the device but when I navigated to the /sdcard/Andriod/data/com.retroarch/files I don't see a system folder but I do see the config files, am I in the right area?

Anyway I create a system and config folder were I have my "hyperspin" and RetroArch installed. I copies the config file over and started up RetroArch went into the config setting > pointed to the new location were I place the files in including the bios settings then I quit RetroArch. I open up Hyperspin and started a genesis game, I press the button to go into RetroArch to see if it was pointing to my config file but it was showing the original default path. I tried to change it to where I put the bios and the config file but it just show the same option as before. I know I probably miss something or maybe I need to reinstall RetroArch so I'm going to try again tonite.

If you're changing your Retroarch core directory within Hyperspin then also remember to hit "Save core overrides" in the Quick Menu before quiting that way your settings actually saves. At least that's how it works for me using retroarch 1.4.1

Yes you can choose "/" but you can't list the contents in the directory nor can you continue browsing after "/", regular users do not have list, read or write privileges to the root folder. I just tried this on a second Shield, it does not work.

2) So i went to delete the folder since it seemed useless at that point, and it said it was in use by another program.

3) I went ahead and opened task manager and saw some processes using fake windows host names running on my pc on startup.

4) i launched in safe mode and ran 13 different antivirus and rootkit removal tools, they all had 50+ detections and removed everything giving my pc a clean bill of health

5) restart pc. same files are loading on my system. I am sure they are malicious at this point because they are blocking me from accessing my windows update settings.

6) back to safe mode to download windows iso creator and flash that to my usb. its blocked. all AV websites are also blocked.

7) use my laptop to create windows install media, return to pc and boot from usb through bios, never once allowing windows to load

8) when i get into the windows installation media, it says i dont have any drives connected. panic is starting to set in.

9) after some research i determine i have a bios rootkit, and decide to reflash my bios

10) tried reflashing bios, invalid file.

11) reboot from a different USB that has flash programming tool installed to be able to freely reflash my bios and be safe and secure once again

12) FPT says i have no drives connected, not even the one i booted from.

I am desparate at this point, and panicing pretty hard because I am getting every couple of hours an email saying a different account of mine has been compromised, so the rootkit is clearly loading malware. I cannot attach any pictures in this second because i am writing this from the laptop, but I would really appreciate it if someone smarter than me could please help me save my pc. I spen $8000 building it and I really cant handle watching it be murdered in front of me

While you are waiting for the next qualified/approved malware removal expert helper to weigh in on your topic, and even though you may have run the following Malwarebytes utility, or its subsets, please carefully follow these instructions:

For the short time between when you post the diagnostic logs, and when your helper weighs in, please take no further self-directed remedial actions that will invalidate the diagnostic logs you will have sent.

I understand @AdvancedSetup, I have taken a minute to calm down. Sadly I am the highest level technician at the local computer security store, and the next nearset one is not accessible to me for the near future. But I would love some help please

Whenever i run the tool, it freezes and becomes unresponsive during hte Scanning other areas phase. I had to close out of it using windows task manager. Im running it again to see if it freezes and re responds but is it supposed to be doing that?

The fix may possibly take up to 60 minutes to complete

If the tool needs a restart please make sure you let the system restart normally and let the tool complete its run after restart.

The tool will make a log named Fixlog.txt in the same folder you ran the Farbar program from. Please attach that log on your next reply.

Important: items are permanently deleted. They are not moved to quarantine. If you have any questions or concerns please ask before running this fix.

My apologies for the laate response, ive been away from home. I ran the script and the computer appears to be as normal. You cannot believe my relief. Thank you all so very, very much.

edit: I ran an antivirus scan using malwarebytes and it found two, although its possible those could be for a c++ project im testing

there is also a process running still called Windows host process (Rundll32) that i am not sure is legitimate

I also noticed this morning my email was mass emailing random people in italian sending them a scam phishing link. is this because they still have access to my pc? or would they have gotten access to my account previously? I just want to make sure im safe

The act of torrenting itself is not illegal. However, downloading and sharing unsanctioned copyrighted material is illegal, and there is always a chance of prosecution if caught by the authorities.

Torrenting non-copyrighted material is perfectly fine and is allowed. However, be aware that we have seen increased malware bundled with software downloads over P2P.

Recent Ransomware infections have been seen to encrypt user data so that no one can decrypt the data without the private key.

When sharing files, please keep in mind that you're increasing your system's attack surface area, which can increase the risk of infection.

Please make sure you Exit out of any other program you might have open so that the sole task is to run the following scan.

That goes especially for web browsers, make sure all are fully exited out of and messenger programs are exited and closed as well

That DOES NOT mean the computer is infected. Once the scan has been completed it uploads the log to their Cloud service which then uses Artificial Intelligence to determine if in fact any of the traces are an infection or not.

Im taking all these steps now and will update as soon as its all done.

You think it might be more worth my time to just reformat all my drives? I dont mind losing the data none of it is important

Which option do you think would serve me better? using your script to fix (which these have been working wonders btw i cant thank you enough), or going with the full reinstall? My C drive is running out of space so a reinstall might help with that too, but idk if i want to lose all my data just because of a *****er who wanted to ruin my pc and steal all my info
