Speaker:
Zheng Liu is a Senior Associate at Orrick's intellectual property group. She focuses on patents and trade secrets litigation, intellectual property counseling, due diligence and technology transactions across a broad range of industries. She has been lead associate for patent infringement and commercial litigation cases and has argued important issues such as claim construction, and examined witnesses in federal courts.  She also advises Chinese companies on a wide range of legal issues specific to Chinese companies doing business in the United States or with foreign companies, including intellectual property, commercial disputes, corporate, real estate, investments, etc.  She is a board member of University of Science & Technology of China Silicon Valley Association and President of the largest Chinese-speaking lawyers' association.  [add link to bio]

For the convenience of the audience, she will present the complicated legal issues with slides in English, but she will make the presenation in Chinese or English with Chinese explanations.

Panelists:

Tom Nolan is a well-known criminal defense attorney who has been listed as The Best Lawyers in America for more than 20 years.  In 2010, he was designated "Lawyer of the Year" in San Francisco Bay Are for criminal defense.  He had successfully defended Chinese defendants in Economic Espionage Act cases and criminal trade secrets cases.  

Warrington Parker is a former United States Attorney for Central District of California, Criminal Division.  He is now a partner at Orrick specializing in civil trade secrets misappropriation, prosecution by SEC for securities fraud, and commerical disputes.  He was part of the Orrick team representing MGA in the MGA v. Mattel case where the team was able to turn a 100 million dollar damages against MGA into a 100 million dollar damages against Mattel.

Harry Clark is a leader in the field of international trade law, with special expertise in military and "dual use" export control regulations, economic sanctions administered by the U.S. Treasury Department, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, antimoney laundering rules, defense industrial security requirements and government contracting regulations.
