Hope you all have a wonderful holiday.

I am forwarding the following message for your information. Are we going to send donation from our Chapter?

I propose that we donate $1500 to the national. The purpose of the donation is to support OCA national programs.

Hope to get your votes by Saturday, Dec 29.

Thong, what is the status on the followings?

1. Did we send our receipts for MAAP lunches to national for reimbursement?
2. Did we receive the check of $2500 for the chapter grant?

Look forward to your responses.

Thanks
Lucy

Dear OCA National Board,

I hope that the season of giving is treating you well! We are coming down to the wire to meet our year end campaign goal and need your help! Just wanted to give a quick shout out to the chapters who have pledged or given to this year’s campaign already:

  • OCA – New York: $5,000
  • OCA – Greater Sacramento: $2,000

·         OCA – Greater Seattle: $1,000

·         OCA – Greater Washington, DC: $1,000

·         OCA – Greater Cleveland: $500

Thank you for your support!

If you have not made a pledge yet, we would love to have it. By now, an EC member should have contacted you as well, but look out for an email or phone call from them in the coming days.

We can’t do this work alone and appreciate any support we can get. Thanks again for your consideration.

Best,

Kendall

Dear OCA National Board,

I hope that you all had a great weekend! Just a quick update that we are 54% the way to our goal of $88,000 by December 31st! I’d like to personally thank the following chapters for their support!

-          OCA – New York: $5,000

-          OCA – Greater Sacramento: $2,000

We are so grateful that you have stepped up to support OCA’s advocacy work and help support the next generation of AAPI Leaders. For all chapters who are considering a pledge/gift to the campaign, WE NEED YOUR HELP. This is the time to make your pledge so that we can go into the new year strong!

If you’re interested in making a pledge, please contact me, Ken, or Marie directly and we’ll make sure that you are recognized. Let’s do this together!

Thank you again for all that you do.

Best,

Kendall

Subject: Happy Holidays & End of Year Campaign

Dear Chapter Presidents:

On behalf of OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates, I’d like to extend a very happy holiday greeting! The holiday season is a time to give thanks and I’d like to show my appreciation by thanking you, the OCA chapter leaders. The chapters are the lifeblood of OCA and we cannot do it without you.

Over the last three years, we have worked hard to find opportunities to support our chapters through staff expertise, programs, and grants including: chapter internships, funding for low-cost internet promotion, tax-aide volunteerism, Southwest Airline voucher distribution, membership growth, and program incentives.

I am also very proud of our new membership system that makes the process more efficient and has grown our base by over 40% since 2017. And finally, transforming OCA National Board Meetings from strictly business to providing chapter development workshops and sessions that help train our organization’s leaders. These are just some of the ways that OCA National is working to build long-term sustainability in our chapters.

And while we do our best to support our chapters every day, I ask for your help in suggestions, commitment and support.  OCA is a very special place for what our community needs if you devote your time and commitment.

This holiday season, it is our hope that you will approach your chapter board to consider making a year-end donation to OCA. It is only with your support that we are able to be as effective as we are. We’re looking to raise $88,000 by December 31st and can only get there with your help.

To make a pledge, please contact me or OCA’s Deputy Director Kendall Kosai at kko...@ocanational.org. OCA Executive Council Members may also be reaching out to you individually in the coming days.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly at any time.

With Warmest Wishes,

Ken Lee

Lucy,
I'll suggest allowing the board the opportunity to review and discuss when board meetings adjourn next month.

1) To have a better understanding of our current financials - so we could make wise decisions that are aligned with our priorities.
2) To minimize last-minute inefficient email voting.
* Is there room for improvement in our communication/planning? Why $1500 suggested contribution wasn't communicated sooner?
* For our sanity, here are the email voting guidelines which we had already discussed.
3) Most importantly, to respect our board during this hectic holiday season, especially some of us may have limited email accessibility while away for travels.

And, yes, I do applaud OCA National for what they do. After all, I've been with OCA on and off for almost 10 years.

Thank you.
Yvonne

Happy soon to be New Year team. We are financially in a better shape than previous years. So we have the funds for the contribution, however, we do need sufficient time for the board to discuss. Email voting should be at emergency situations.

The points Yvonne brought up makes sense. So we can discuss this during the January board meeting.

Which dates work for the board to meet? Can everyone search for the email I sent a few weeks ago about the meeting times?

Go team!

Can we have the upto date financial report before the next board meeting so that we know what we are getting into?

I also agree that we support national but it probably be a good idea to assess ourselves financially.

Thank you.

Han.

A report will be there, however, I haven't seen a date and time for the next meeting?
