Dear OCA members and supporters

Happy Asian Pacific American Heritage Month!

As this is the 135th Anniversary of the Chinese Exclusion Act, OCA Chapters across the country are using this opportunity to raise this issue with their local governments acknowledge it in a resolution or proclamation. OCA-East Bay is working with several East Bay governments on proclamations having accepted one this week from the City of Alameda, expecting ones from the Cities of Oakland and Berkeley, and we're in conversation with many more East Bay jurisdictions. It's important given a lot of uncertain times and anti-immigrant rhetoric and policies that we learn from similar moments that our country endured and overcame.

Follow our efforts on Facebook

We have some other events coming up this month including our next PickITup Chinatown on Sunday, May 14th 11am-2pm meetup at T4 1068 Webster

More details to come on other projects we're working on this month.

For more information you can contact Chapter President Michael Moon mm...@primeimageus.com

Sincerely,
OCA-East Bay

Rally for Inclusion: Remembering the 135th Anniversary of the Chinese Exclusion Act

Saturday, May 6, 2017 – NOON
Portsmouth Square
735 Kearny Street
San Francisco Chinatown
*The rally is wheelchair accessible.

On the 135th Anniversary of the passage of the Chinese Exclusion Act, we stand together in solidarity to resist the Muslim travel ban and anti-immigrant and refugee policies. Excluding immigrants on the basis of race and religion was wrong then and it is wrong now!
