Hi Ursula

Where do we report a small sinkhole in the road? Its in the middle of Bellevliet Road, next to a manhole and probably the same size as the manhole cover. I’m just concerned it will keep getting bigger….

And Lower Scott road? Or is that excluded from the audit. All the pavement paving slabs are broken too.

I do have  concern and questions about repairs to the road and pavements in Lower Scott Road.

Who pays?

I'm guessing that is it is us; the rate payers. But the damage is massive and it was not done by us, the rate payers.

All the paving slabs outside my house have been collapsed by huge trucks parking on them so that they can sleep for the night or just so that they can pass each other in the road.

The damage is such that it has caused the wall of my house to crack. I have just paid to have that repaired as the ingress of damp was becoming a huge problem. Although I did not do the damage, I paid.

Rebuilding the pavement and wall foundations then re-paving will fix it. But only until the next grain ship comes in.

Further down the road the dongas caused by trucks manoeuvring are no longer just pot holes - the repair will be expensive, and again, quite pointless if the truck continue to come and do damaged without being charged (either financially or criminaly - it is, after all, deliberate damage).

Concrete bollards that I assume were meant to protect the pavements have been destroyed - how much does it cost to supply and re-seat one of these? They certainly were not destroyed by any of the residents cars - who pays?

There were plans to re-route the access to the mill - that seems to have been dropped; why?

What should we the residents have to do - what is the procedure?
The only time I have ever got any co-operation from the mill was when I blocked the road so that they could not get the trucks in or out.
If this is the sort of action we need to take then we need to know sooner rather than later.  Time is up and we need to do something.

We had high hopes for the planned new access for the mill but if is not going to be the solution we need to know. And we need to make some other plan to protect our properties.
