Hi Zoë , I m glad you were able to find that
Hughes processor ok. I haven't tried looking for
it on ebay, they were popular in stores about 10
years ago. But Im sure there's some sort of CD
processor out there that would work for you.

Ebay is no better or no worse than buying
anything out of a audio magazine ad. There's
honest people everywhere and there's dishonest
people everywhere. You rolls the dice and you
takes your chances.

The DBX 224X can be used in playback WITHOUT
encoding for use with 'dud' tapes that have been
waterdamaged. The results are quite surprising
and when used with an equalizer to re-make a
master tape can go a long way towards restoring
the sound. It won't make it original but it will
make it surprisingly listenable. Experimentation
is best for this sort of thing.

Ask 20 different people and you probably will get
20 different answers.
