I've received a request from the Obs fieldworker, Kenneh Roman, who is employed by Obsid. You are also welcome to drop in and speak to him in his office at the station.

Immediate needs include:
1. A working laptop to replace one that is gradually dying.
2. A laser printer
3.A lockable filing cabinet
4. A lockable clothes cupboard
N.B. These items don't have to be new -- they can be second-hand.

Kenneth can also be contacted on 072 490 4097.

Hi Rob

Obsid recently launched the social issues office at the Observatory Station where I am working from. I assist homeless people and get them into shelters, rehabs, family reunification and back to community of origin. I also help them with ID applications, social grants and referrals to other services.

We are also in the process of inviting community members to join and be part of the Obsid Social Issues committee that will focus on social initiatives and fundraising to fund social initiatives of the Obsid Social Issues Office. If you are interested then you can attend our first meeting on 29th of August at 16:00 till 18:00. The time and date might change depending on the availability of members.

One of the immediate items that the Obsid Social Issues Office needs is a laptop that is in good working condition as the old one that has been donated by Brand House has seen its days. Parts for this laptop is not available anymore and nearly impossible to find. It does not work with new hardware and application either.

We also need a printer preferably a black laser printer that does not cost allot to replace cartridges and lockable filling cabinet for client files and a clothing cabinet to store donated clothing that I hand out to homeless individuals.

These few things will do wonders for the Obsid Social Issues Office that can only be as effective as the resources that has to work with.

Thank you kindly

Kenneth Roman
