Good evening everyone,

It’s Olivia here and I have just purchased the Neck Reset videos from the website. However only dovetail style neck is demonstrated in the videos and I would love to know how the neck reset is done on a Taylor NT neck. Thank you!

Olivia

Taylor uses two shim to set the neck angle.

Thank you so much John the video you provided was very helpful but unfortunately as I live in Hong Kong and I have contacted Taylor and they said they cannot give me the shim kit so I would need to know how the work needs to be done on the original shims. Thanks

No real help except to say you most likely need need to make the fretboard extension thicker and the heel wedge thinner. The Tylor shims are nice as they are matching sets of two.

The goal is to change the neck angle without changing the nut to saddle distance and the only way to do that is with two precisely tapered and thicknessed shims. The tapered heelblock shim is to adjust the neck angle (action/saddle height) and the tapered fretboard shim is to support the fretboard for the new neck angle. If the thickness of the new tapered heel block shim isn't perfect the intonation instantly goes in the dumper. Or so says I. I'm thinking this adjustment is not for the squeamish.
