I have gold mother of pearl letters I want to put in this ambrosia maple headstock veneer. I have some of this Gluboost fill and finish CA formula. This piece of wood is a full 1/8 in thick and my plan is to put a piece of packing tape over the pockets on the top side (shellacked), fit the letters in from the back and ensure that they are in contact with the tape. Then I would flip it over and get the glue in there to seal it from the back side. I may have to do a couple of layers with this Gluboost. After everything is cured well I will sand to a 16th of an inch or so.

I haven't tried anything like this before so I'm open to criticisms and tips.

Thank you, folks!

No idea but do a test on some scrap?  You could just drill some holes and see how it works.

You have their accelerator?

Hi Chuck
Keep in mind that the gold layer is thin and easy to sand through, leaving white - happened to a friend…. You might try setting the pearl deep enough to have a layer of clear CA on top that can be sanded with the wood.

Thank you, Roger!

And I think Paul had a comment too. I only get the digests and so sometimes I can't figure out how to reply.
