Hey everyone
I am building a dreadnought for someone that wants forward shifted pricing (X brace 1 inch from sound hole). I know that the bridge plate has to remain in the same position but what about the tone bars and the finger braces? Do they move up slightly or do they stay in the same position as a Martin dreadnought standard bracing pattern?

Thanks, Gill Brewster

I can say what I do. I note where the X cross the bridge, usually clips the corner of the wings. When I shift the X toward the sound hole I change the X angle so that it crosses the wings of the bridge close to the original position. The important thing is that you do not pull the x brace off the bridge.  My tone bars stay the same as they are relative to bridge and bridge plate. I just make the finger braces look reasonable.
