Hi all.
I'm finalising an old experimental bouzouki build, and my plan was to use a 4-hole pin bridge, with two strings per hole, as I could not fit 8 pins over falcate bracing.
I know this has been done by others without (afaik) any negative effects, apart from the need to remove 2 strings when a sting breaks.
The strings will be spaced via notches in the saddle.
Not having much experience making a pin bridge, how should I go about cutting the string grooves in the holes? If I cut 2 grooves, I don't like the weak, thin wood between the strings.
Should I just cut one wide groove to take 2 string?
Also, any advice for cutting the said grooves in terms of their angle? How deep is too deep? What's the logic behind grooved pin holes vs ungrooved holes?
Thank you very much.
