I  had the opportunity to create a guitar for the country artist John King.  Greenworks sponsors him and asked me to come up a guitar to surprise him for an event.  It’s a dreadnaught with a flamed hard maple back and sides.  Just delivered this afternoon and he is playing it at the event tonight.

Very nice!
May I ask, how did you color that maple?

Met vriendelijke groet, Dick

Thanks Robbie.I have been messing with guitars since the 70’s, but work kind of got in the way.  After I retired 4 years ago, I bought your course and it has been the blueprint and teaching tool for me ever since.  I realize that there is no graduation or pinnacle moment in this journey.  So much to learn and it really never ends.  Thank you Robbie for your expertise, passion and willingness to teach what you know to the rest of us.

ColorTone liquid stain (water based).  Lemon yellow and bright green.  I applied a couple wash coats of shellac on the inside to prevent bleed through.

I used ColorTone liquid stain (water based).  Bright green and lemon yellow.  I tried to match the Greeenworks color as best I could.  It’s a mess to work with and runs like crazy, so careful taping off the top and back was essential. I did a couple wash coats of shellac on the inside to prevent bleed through.  It still did in a could have spots, but not too bad.
