(Except if you are an author responding to a critic, then personal
attacks will be tolerated, nay, encouraged.)
I have been watching this whole mess from the sidelines. I have resisted
every urge to chime in, because it's clear they are straight-up trolls. They
may attempt to hide their trollishness behind the nominal effort of
mentioning a technical thing here or there, but that is all they are.
The solution? Completely ignore them at first. Then ban them without
ceremony and without notice to the group. Do not address them, or mention
them in any other thread, because they will never stop. Do not feed their
infantile rage.
We know they're not raising valid points, and so there's the urge to point
that out. But don't bother. Anyone with an ounce of reason can read their
diatribes and immediately see that they are interested only in stirring up
trouble -- whether or not they understand the technical subject matter,
because that's merely incidental. The actual content in their emails is
close to zero.
There is no need to discredit them, because they're doing a fine job of it
on their own.

However, it does point to your complete and utter ignorance of
relational theory. Furthermore, being an author, you are clearly
evil and part of the insidious conspiracy to have a reasonable
conversation on this list. You should apologize immediately! ;-)

Lesson to one and all: No disagreement with anybody. The contributors
to this site are always right!
I have humbly learned my lesson. George Orwell's 1984 is here, finally.
Only it's happening in the US, not Russia. Patriot Act, Enemy of the
State, torture is OK, banning any disgreements on discussion groups,
..., what is next?
Does not Amy's mail qualify as rude? Oh, I forgot, she is a
contributor to your magazine. By definition, anything she says cannot
be rude!
I could go and cite the many technical points that have been touched
upon, the many examples of incorrect statements made by Ambler which
have not been rebutted by him, etc., but why? According to Amy Hoy,
these are not technical. She will decide what is technical.
Tim.
