Hi All,

Could anyone please help in one of the issue that I'm facing in BI Publisher.

We need a help in configuring Siteminder SSO for BI Publisher, We have CA Siteminder SSO authentication for login to /analytics. If we navigate to BI Publisher reports from OBIEE Dashboards then its popping up login screen for entering credentials for xmlpserver.

Do we need to configure same SSO in BIPublisher as well? Or do we need to create one more SSO logon url for xmlpserver?
Also I don’t see any tech note on configuring for the same, when I google it I came to know that xmlpserver server needs to be registered as partner application in the SSO server, but didn’t find detailed information on this. We are on latest OBIEE 11.1.1.7.140114.

Please let us know any solution to this or provide any useful links for the same.

Regard's,
Ranjith

We have configured Active Directory auth. And found that if BIP is setup to use fusion middleware security then BIP specific SSO need not be setup. Although we haven't tried launching a BIP report from a dashboard.

Ranjith,

Yes, I would suggest that you also protect the xmlpserver urls with SiteMinder similarly to how you protected the /analytics URLs.  SiteMinder needs to know that you are protecting BI Publisher URLs.

You won't find much documentation on SiteMinder via Oracle since it's not an Oracle product but in my experience the URLs you are told to protect with Oracle Access Manager are the same ones you'll want to protect with CA SiteMinder.  There may be some XML files or Enterprise Manager configuration to do as well so BI Publisher knows it's configured for SSO.  But start with the SiteMinder protection.

Good luck!

Hi Steve,
You mean to say we need to protect the BIP SSO Url in CA Site minder in addition to OBIEE SSO Url? In that case I will work with Siteminder team to configure it.

Thanks for the info.

Regards,
Ranjith

Correct.  BIP has a different root URL so SiteMinder needs to be aware of it.

BI Publisher: /xmlpserver
OBIEE: /analytics

Good luck!
