Has anyone worked with this utility before to migrate Brio reports to OBIEE?  Any guidance, lessons learned, sample project plans, etc?  Does it work?  How much manual intervention is needed?  Where can you get tripped up?

I have a copy of the on-line tutorials, but that will only get me so far.

Any input is appreciated.

Regards,
Jeff M.

I have worked with the Translation Workbench as a Proof of Concept conversion.  One thing is that there is a lot of pre-work that needs to be done to the BQY files using the provided scripts.

I only used the TWB to create the RPD.  I did not have it create the Analysis, Tables, Pivots, or Charts.

A few things I found
1. The RPD that gets imported into the TWB needs to have just the Physical Tables imported
2. The TWB will not reproduce Report or Dashboard Sections of the BQY.
3. The person running TWB really needs to know what is going on in the BQY to determine which Query Sections need to move forward, identifying the Fact Tables in the model, omitting the sections that are used for parameter on dashboard.
4. Business Model and Presentation Model will only contain columns used Query.

Oracle has not done much with this since the 11.1.1.3 release which means if you are using newer versions you need to update files in TWB with files out of the OBIEE Admin install.  Be sure to check the docs on this.

I know the team that created TWB.  I think that if there was still support for TWB they would done a version that translated to BIP as well.

One thing I did find is that there is a lot of overhead created with TWB.

Give me a call if you wish to discuss further.

Thanks Wayne.  I may give you a buzz sometime to discuss.
