Using the advanced search page sidebar, if search text is wrapped in quotes, the quotes disappear after hitting enter. However I can edit the input in the search criteria section and quotes are honored. Can someone please confirm if this is only happening to us and if there is solution?

Thank you,

Lina

Hi
In Fact some special characters are removed from the query, take in mind that all query are targeting an elasticSearch backend, and some elasticSearch query search rules have to be taken
Please try to use the '\' to escape some special characters, and include them literally into your query
Hope that helped you
Samir

Hi Samir,

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my first post. What I'm trying to do is not searching for quotation marks but rather I want to be able to search for exact text matches. When I edit the text using the input in the search criteria area (green in screenshot) it works the way I want to find exact matches. However it doesn't do the same when I use the input in the sidebar (red in screenshot). Just wondering why there is this inconsistency and if there is some way I could make the exact text match work. (Adding backslashes unfortunately did not keep the quotes in the query.)

Thanks,

Lina

Hi Samir,

This regex seems pretty restrictive to me. If I had implemented a version of the site in a different language, Chinese for example, it would strip my entire query in that language. This affects even French queries although to a lesser extend.

Do you have any plans on making this regex not so broad?
