Hello,

I was just wondering about your release cycle for the OBI ontologies - how often is the ontology updated?
Also how frequently are new terms be added under the actual "study design"(OBI_0500000) domain?

Many thanks,

Yasmin

Hi Yasmin,

OBI is a community project, and we add new terms as users request them. Here are some notes on that process:

http://obi-ontology.org/page/OBI_term_guidelines

We don't have a fixed schedule for OBI releases. Instead we make a new release when new terms are ready. In practise, we made five releases last year, and just two so far this year.

I'm not sure when the last study design term was added, but if you have terms that you need, please let us know.

Best regards,

James

Hi James,

Thank you for your quick reply - it was very useful.

I will let you know if I do need a new term.
I am currently curating studies that are looking at differences in gene expression across ethnic groups and there doesn't seem to be a corresponding study design in OBI but there is the term "population based design" in EFO.

Kind regards,

Yasmin
