Has anyone had a problem with your sugar bottoming out? Like going
down into the 50s even after eating breakfast or having a protein
shake? It hasn't happened in a while but it hit again this morning
and I felt nauseous and extremely fatigued. It sneaks up on me and my
primary care physician and endocrinologist don't find anything in
blood work etc....I think I'm going to have to start keeping a food
and activity journal again to track this down. I've lost some of my
good "after surgery" habits - it's been 4 years now.....

I am diabetic type 1 so I have only had a few low blood sugars since surgery. I have cut my insulin in half.  I drink the Isopure and protein bullets for breakfast through lunch as I just can't seem to get them finished quick. Anyway they do bring my sugar up.  Do you take any medicine for low blood sugar? I will tell you that if you are back to eating carbs from breads and things that will raise and lower your blood sugar VERY quickly unlike the carbs from protein or vegetables.  The carbs raise it than your body spits out tons of insulin thinking you will eat lots like you did for years but you don't so it drops low.

That is what I am guessing is causing it since your PCP and endroconolgist cannot find anything.  I would try the Protein train which they say is going back to basics and only protein for 3 days.

Have you ever checked out the site  beforeandafterhelp.com ?  Awesome site and the forum is great.  They do talk about low blood sugars also.

I hope I helped some and good luck I know how scary low blood sugars can be. Prior to surgery I think my family knew every EMT in Plano on a first name basis.

The only thing different is my Vitamin D levels are low so I'm on a
liquid D supplement starting yesterday. I will try more protein and
cutting out the bread. I have gotten back into the habit of a little
bread but I hate the effects of the low blood sugar so I must do what
I have to do :)
