I'm wondering if anyone was turned down by their insurance company and
then got them to change their minds. My insurance company had about 50
pages of clinical notes showing various attempts at weight loss over
15 years but turned me down because I didn't have a medically
supervised weight loss program in the last 24 months. It is so short-
sighted of them and it makes no sense. Right now I don't have diabetes
or high blood pressure or high cholesterol. But I am a 5'6" woman who
weighs 300 pounds so I'm a walking time bomb for all of those things.
I have a lung disease that necessitates my using oxygen 24/7 and my
pulmonologist things that would be helped by the surgery.
But still they said no. I was shocked and saddened. I don't know what
to do next. If anyone here knows, I'd appreciate your advice. Thanks.
