Mac Mini as hardware

Has anyone tried running OBE on a Mac Mini?

It's possible to run Ubuntu on a mac and you could use a thunderbolt based Black Magic Ultrastudio Recorder Mini as the capture hardware.

Would be interested in peoples thoughts on this as I'm still looking for appropriate hardware for a single channel of SD.
