theshadestore.com has a showroom in SoHo and a few good solutions for
window shades. The solar shades I bought work well, (for the bright
sun as well as privacy) and are simple and easy to operate. They will
come and measure (which I recommend, since the windows are not
straight) and install. I was pleased with them.

Cooper Station, you're absolutely right about the pioneering
spirit... Margaret, w/o ever seeing me, kindly offered and gave me
her temp shades - and they are the only thing that stands between me
and indecency...

Of course, once things are in place, you're more than welcome to stop
by and check out some of our solutions.

Container Store - we have them do all our closets. We tried to come
up with design ourselves, but after hours at Home Depot and later at
Lowes, I made an executive decision:), called the C store, talked to
this amazing woman who designed the space in a matter of 30min - i
had everything installed before we moved in - big help! The only
closet we didn't do, and now i regret it = w/d space. But we're having
W (the same guy who helped Margaret), do it for us... we'll keep you
posted. One thing to keep in mind - Container store has
"reinforcements" for the closets panels - we didn't have them
installed but they sent them later on. they are like brackets that you
put mid-way, to even out weight on the structure.
hope this helps,
e
PS - we are looking for hooks on the door for the bathroom. something
to match the existing fixtures. Any suggestions? thanks!
