Agreed it would suck but that one hold out as part of the Atlantic Yards eminent Domain buy out got $5mil for his dump. This is just part of the brainstorming process about what NY state can do but I can't imagine the state buying up all those homes and destroying part of the neighborhood. On the other hand if they built a tunnel for the bqe and the current highway becomes part of the promenade that would be amazing. Just to close the loop on this, I went to the stakeholders meeting last night and the eminent domain topic has been buried: http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/brooklyn/state_vows_brooklyn_heights_brownstones_kqvmzpr1I57LCKuVj7CJkN

The NYS DOT project lead said that they had to at least draw up this schematic as part of their process for any highway, but that it was impossible to ignore the social cost and are taking it off the table.
